When flowers take root in art... A conversation with Louis-Géraud Castor, former art dealer turned haute couture florist.

This past February, ahead of Fashion Week, Louis-Géraud Castor welcomed me into his gallery-like studio, all in white, where canvases make way for floral compositions.

Before the flowers came the objects. The ones you search for, choose carefully, and learn to truly see.

A former art dealer turned floral artist, Louis-Géraud Castor spent twenty years hunting down rare pieces, working with galleries, writing about 20th-century decorative arts, and passing on a culture of beauty.

Then flowers became his new medium. In the heart of the Marais, surrounded by fashion boutiques and art galleries, he now creates bouquets with the same eye for detail as a collector. Balancing abstraction and precision, his arrangements reflect the seasons, celebrate the passing of time, and honour fleeting beauty.

In this interview, he looks back on his singular journey — from the auction rooms of Drouot to the market halls of Rungis, from early projects for Prada to numerous floral creations for the fashion world. And more:

– Rose Uniacke, British interior designer.

– Lisa Cooper, Australian floral artist.

– Mathilde Martin, French ceramist.
